A very rare live performance for me at the Café OTO gig celebrating 20 years of our CRiSAP research centre. I must only have done 10 or so gigs ever, most memorable having been Decoys at Iklectik, the Resonance FM Big Band at Duke of Yorks Cinema, the Biscuit Factory in Beaconsfield, a theatre at…… Continue reading OTO Gig

“Cave Mouth” in Leiden
Really proud the Leiden Essay Film Festival is screening Rupert Cox’s and my 2015 film “Cave Mouth and Giant Voice” inspired by the Okinawan war memories of Yogi-san (pictured above and below at meetings in 2010 and 2013). The film centres on two listening experiences – walking with fisher people across an ino (lagoon) at end…… Continue reading “Cave Mouth” in Leiden

Radio, Radio
Two different broadcasts. The first broadcast was a rough and ready collection of audio recordings from Gruve 7 mine in Svalbard. The day after my second day in the mine trip, Mort Drew played a longer selection of my recordings on “Signals Radio – transnational forms of resistance in mining communities” as part of the…… Continue reading Radio, Radio

Included are longer discussions with Katsu Kabira and Seijin Yogi – who both survived…… Continue reading Zawawa: Listening to the Aftermaths of Conflicts in Okinawa

Taking its title from the average altitude of…… Continue reading 2420 ft
DIVFUSE Exhibition
“Non Mountain,” my ongoing project with Chrystal Cherniwchan and Craig Tattersall was exhibited in a different iteration at London’s DIVFUSE gallery from February 14 – 16, 2025. A wall display of new prints and a new moving image work were created to accompany stereo playback of Side A of the 2024 vinyl release.
Bandcamp Field Recordings 2024
It was as unexpected as it was exciting to read Bandcamps’s Best Field Recordings of 2024 and spot my “Powerlines” LP included on the list. “Powerlines,” which relates to the collaborative Arctic Auditories research project, is not an easy work so I’m particularly grateful to Andrew Weathers and Cody Yantis of Rural Situationism for having…… Continue reading Bandcamp Field Recordings 2024
SOAS Talk
It was great to be invited by Luigi Monteanni to present a Music Research Seminar about my work to the PhD students at SOAS.
