Simon James and I were invited to Blast Theory in Shoreham to talk about our South of Shoreham Shore project. We each chose three images to provide snapshots of past, present and future activities and following Simon’s lead, I went way back – to 2002 where I DJ’d for 25 hours as we traveled in a white transit van around the M25 (the original image was amazing, by Kristian Buus, the red-lit image on the right is a pixelated thumbnail that I re-scaled).
We had a great evening, with Simon leading listening sessions, me providing context to our ongoing soundmapping and the audience asking great questions. The finale was a performance of Pauline Oliveros’ “Rock Piece” (1979) using pebbles from the shoreline.
